As an MBA degreed accountant, I have electronically prepared and carefully filed hundreds of people's State and Federal Tax returns over the years. I also file taxes for sole proprietors, and LLCs. My practice does not include S- Corp, Partnerships, estate or C Corp filings at this time.
Lots of services will do your taxes. Many are just storefronts with largely seasonal staff designed to file as many returns as possible as quickly as possible. CPAs and attorneys usually do a high-quality job, but they will charge accordingly. Even simple business returns can be challenging to complete and careful record keeping is essential for accurate returns.
I don't hire temps, contractors or seasonal help. I do charge less than the national chains, and full-time professionals, while offering quality personal advice and service. Brief initial tax consults are encouraged via phone and always done at no charge.
Most people's tax situations are not complex and I do offer a fixed rate fee for folks who have typical returns and deductions and reside in many different states. I find my charges are typically at least 25% less than national chains and local firms. Refer to Fees Charged for a detailed comparison of my standard fees to my leading competitors.
I certainly do folks returns who have multiple homes, live in different states and have a variety of investment income, deductions, carry back losses, etc. However, I need to see the prior return and the records involved, before I can quote a price on these returns.
